Hi all so sorry to be a pain but is anyone who has had a lumpectomy having trouble wearing any bra ??

  • Hello  ,

I've always had problems with wearing bras - I am a 'larger' lady and have always found bras uncomfortable - too tight, tight under my bust, around my neck and on my shoulders - the ones I feel most comfortable with are the stretchy none supporting - however, I don't believe these are any good for us in reality as they offer no support.

After lumpectomy I took to wearing the 'zip fronted' sports type bra - I had good support however was 'loose' over the area where lumpectomy was carried out - I tried to ignore this also have a lot of back/neck pain whilst wearing this sort of bra.  (I will add, over the months and years the 'space' where the lumpectomy was done as 'filled in' naturally.

I hope this helps a little xx

I'm hoping this makes sense - only my mind says one thing and my fingers type whatever they like x
  • Yes Dinky Doo, I purchased a couple of cotton front fastening surgical bralets via the hospital.  I have quite big boobs and I am finding they are tight around my back but not supportive enough in the cup. I went onto Amazon and purchased another front fastening post surgical bra/sports bra, it is not cotton but I can adjust the straps and there are 3 sets of hooks and eyes at the front so I can adjust the support I need. I have noticed I am more comfortable by the end of the day and not so achy. Hope this helps. X

  • Hi Dinkydoo, I have struggled with bras all my life, to tight, boobs stick over the top, rolls at the back, shoulder strap’s uncomfortable, nightmare. I’ve found these bras good and supportive

Also Marks and Spencer’s do some great supportive soft and comfortable bras. I took the plunge and booked a fitting with them. They have experienced staff who are able to advise and get the right bra for you. I now have 3 from them and they fit perfectly and are so comfortable. No more bulging over the top at the back etc.

    Hope this helps

    Hugs from cuffcake x x x x x

  • Hi   yep, I now have 2 different sized boobs so no bra looks or feels good. The only one I’ve found vaguely comfortable is non wired padded so it gives you shape but doesn’t show from the outside the mis matched boobs! I got mine from next but they stopped that style before I could buy in every colour! I sadly have a drawer of beautiful bras I can no longer wear

  • Yep - me! Am following this thread with interest xx

  • Hi what happened sorry for late reply   Thank you so much for your advise I will look into these I hope you are well it’s such a nuisance sometimes being big busted I can never seem to find a comfortable bra normally let alone now with having a lumpectomy
