Just been diagnosed, seeing surgeon tomorrow I know it's oestrogen positive but still waiting for Her2 result, so very nervous about that result.  Got lumpectomy for 27th so not long to wait now.  Just the not knowing if I will need chemo or just radiation after that's making me stressed today

  • Hello, sorry you’re still waiting on that. I’m two months in and still waiting on the HER2 tbh cause the results are not conclusive. But you got the lumpectomy scheduled so that’s a good thing. When did they say you’ll get the results? Have you got the biopsy done and waiting?

  • Hi, Brian69 I had biopsy and met a surgeon got the results but the Her2 one wasn't back yet, got a date for surgery, then the next day a nurse phoned offering me a date 2 weeks earlier with a different surgeon who I meet tomorrow, I was thinking the results might be back now. Sorry to hear yours were inconclusive, the waiting is so hard.  Have you got a surgery booked?

  • Hey, no cause I got an aggressive spread to the lymph nodes. From my understanding they’re trying to save as many as possible and avoid mets with chemo -staring on Tuesday. The HER2 seems to delay quite a bit, even when not inconclusive. I wasn’t aware that HER2 can impact whether you get chemo or not. I’m also estrogen / PR positive / HER2 borderline negative. If you don’t mind telling what have they told you about chemo n HER2 in your case?

  • Honestly they haven't told me anything, I think I have been putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5 because I like to prepare myself for what might happen, I probably have it totally wrong. Good luck for Tuesday, such a lot to happen for you in such a short time, will be thinking of you on Tuesday

  • Good luck with your appointment tomorrow too :) Yup, a lot happening for all of us here. Take care and update if you’d like on how your meeting with the doc goes. Could maybe ask him how HER2 will affect your treatment to put your mind at ease. Heart

  • Hi honeydovebee

I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis, I find the waiting is truly the worst part of this process. I am ER+, PR+ & HER2 +. Before I got the HER2 result I was told op followed by radiation therapy. I have been told that HER2 + result brings chemo therapy into the treatment plan. What I would say though is nothing is definite, I am 10 days post op and I am waiting for more results. If I can give any useful advice at all,  it would be to take one step at a time and try not to think too far ahead because things may change ….. easier said than done I know!!!

I wish you the best of luck on your journey and send lots of hugs and positive vibes Heart

  • Thank you that is really good advice, finding it hard not to look into every possibility, but going to try my best to take it a day at a time, can I ask how easy is it getting dressed in the days after the op?

  • I had the Sentinel node removal (SNLB) procedure at the same time which I think is pretty standard. I am right handed and my op was on the right. I didn’t find it that difficult to manage I wore really loose tops or baggy buttoned up tops. I would definitely say a front fastening/zip up bra is a must. They do recommend you start doing gentle breast exercises day after op and they have really helped to increase my movement. I am just back from hospital appointment and all my dressings are off and I can now shower on the RHS of my body …… yippee Grin

Good luck today. Feel free to message if you have any other questions as I am not that far ahead of you in this journey. X

  • Had appointment been told ER+ PR+ and HER2 borderline so still don't know if it will be chemo as its gone off for further testing, have had pre op just in case surgery can go ahead, the appointment was an hour late which didn't help. Hopefully I can relax rest of the week until the results are back.  Thanks for the info on what to wear I have ordered some bras think they were zip up ones xx
