Hi everyone.
I’ve just finished 6 lots chemo after lumpectomy, Embarking on 15 radiotherapy sessions the end of this month. How long does it take to recover after chemo? I tended to on the whole bounce back after each cycle though not so much with docetaxel 2-3. I feel exhausted and so unfit. I know my haemoglobin is low which doesn’t help and I’m doing all the right things to increase that. They seem less keen to give supplements but I feel so exhausted and tired after doing v little. Feeling a bit frustrated cos not feeling effects of chemo again sort of gets you through then to know can take months to feel energy normal again seems distressing. How did others do?

  • Energy levels did slowly come back, but it took a good year for me not to feel like I was still feeling the effects of chemo. And I have to admit that I have not recovered my pre-cancer energy levels as I have been put into a medical menopause and that means I just don't have the energy levels I used to.

It's not all bad, as it helps focus your mind on what is really important to you - you don't have the energy for everything anymore

  • Thanks. I’m post menopausal so slightly different. I’m not gonna be restricted. I’ll be sensible but I’m going for normal. Best wishes.

  • You’re going to have to give yourself the time to recover.

Your body has been through so much, but you need to be kind to yourself . Sorry but it’s the way to regain normal.

  • Hi there I finished 7 rounds of chemo  the 29th December I was totally wiped out but what kept me going was the products from new gen I mixed 2 scoops of their lovely organic powders that kept my strength  up and I recovered so quickly I mixed  it with organic porridge and almond milk  and doing a little bit of exercise good luck with your journey X
