Learning to be patient

Hello, just joined the group, but have been reading the posts for several weeks. I had my lympectomy and sentinel nodes operation on Monday, now learning to rest and be patient for my results. I have been very positive but like to be in control and learning to sit and rest is already driving me a little mad. I meditate which helps, but any other tips to get me through the next 3 weeks?

  • Hi l listen to healing music on Spotify while resting on sofa I just slowed down and make no plans if you manage a walk great, if not no worries just be kind to you x

  • Hi, the time after surgery was the most difficult for me too, as I like to be busy. I found I felt quite well quite quickly and I was up and out walking after about a week so I wasn't bed bound for anywhere near as long as I had feared.  I got kindle unlimited on Amazon which allowed me to download lots of magazine and books and have a choice of stuff to read.  Best wishes

  • That sounds just like me, apart from I had all the lymph nodes removed. It's so important it's hard to wait. The next wait for me was just as hard, waiting for the appt with Oncologist. We are lucky though to not have to wait like the rest of the NHS.

I enjoyed stepping off the treadmill in some ways. Walked the dog, meditated with Kyle Gray and chanted mantras with him on line. Exercised my arm which wasn't moving so well, read and just generally relaxed for a change. You will do this, distraction is a great thing. I did find patience, but the day before I became super impatient though. X
