Hi - I had a breast mri today and I’m scared (already diagnosed with bc in r breast)

  • Hi Hrh77

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer.  It's perfectly understandable that you are feeling scared after being diagnosed with breast cancer as until you know your treatment plan you are in limbo.  However once you have your treatment plan things should start to feel less scary than they are at the moment.  Breast cancer is very treatable these days.  I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer over two years ago and after having chemo, surgery and radiotherapy I am now in remissions.  I know of loads of people who have had breast cancer and they've made a full recovery, Kylie Minogue springs to mind.  If you'd like to know more about my journey with breast cancer just click on my name and you can read a little bit about my journey with breast cancer.

Wishing you the best of luck with whatever treatment your medical team decide to put you on.

    Best wishes

  • Hi Hrh77,

I am in exactly the same position. I had my MRI on Friday, and have confirmed BC in the right breast.

I have sent you a friend request - it might be good for us both to have someone to talk to who is in the same place.

    Take care,

  • Hi - I’m sorry to hear that .. yes it would be great to hook up! Grinning

  • Hi

Im so worried about having an MRI scan as I am extremely anxious. Could you perhaps talk me through it?
    thank you x

  • Hi - of course - honestly the mri itself was not too bad - as everyone says it is “noisy” .. but I didn’t feel too claustrophobic- it’s very bright and I was looking down and there was a mirror to see above and around.
It was a little uncomfortable to get into position - but the nurses obviously help a lot. They were very good inserting the die.
pin mine a voice would say .. the next scan will be x minutes and they ranged from 1 minute to 10 .. overall I was probably in for 30 minutes. I tried to “count” in 60 seconds !!

good luck. You will be fine.

as with all this the waiting for results is what I find hard.
    xx

  • Thank you. I so appreciate you replying as I looked online and thought omg I can’t do that!!
so helpful speaking to someone who has been through it all.

how are you? Where are you on your journey? X

  • You’re welcome. I’m due a mastectomy on 2 March.
it’s hard and still feels a little unknown ..  so worried about chemo .. that’s my big worry .. I’m told I’m “likely” to have to have that too ! X

  • I have a further ultra sound and biopsy on Friday. My MRI showed up some areas that they need to have a better look at Frowning2
