Hi all
I am new here. I have started Abemaciclib 3 weeks ago and suffering tummy ache, diarrhoea since then. Diarrhoea managed with Loperamide but struggling a lot with tummy ache. Anyone else having upper abdominal pain here? Oncologist changed the dose and GP prescribed omeprazole but still having same type of pain! Sometimes feel like its better to die! I already have had surgery, chemothearpy, radiotherapies and on anastrozole. This Abemaciclib giving me a hard time! Visited a&e for tummy pain. Anyone here struggling the same please comment. Thank you.
Hi Dr Hoq
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you are suffering from side effects from Abemaciclib. While I don't have the experience you are looking for I noticed that you haven't had any answers yet so I thought I'd welcome you to the forum. This reply will move you to the top of the discussion. Hopefully someone will be along shortly with an answer for you.
Best wishes

Hi. it makes sense to stop whatever caused the problem. I have three friends on one teaspoon of bicarb and one teaspoon of honey mixed in WARM water twice a day for ten days then maintenance every ten days of three days back on it . They all seem to be doing well. It alkalises the body as too acid is out of balance.
Hi
I’m due to start these next week and I’m pretty worried about the side effects . How are you feeling now ?

Hi
I was so sick since I start taking Abemaciclib. Oncologist reduced the dose but side effects still there. Today I read patients review regarding Abemaciclib in the MacMillan group. Its causes IBS type symptoms! Severe abdominal cramps, diarrhoea, fatigue. Its been 6 weeks I am suffering. I took 40 Loperamide capsules. I loose 8 kilos weight. I can't eat, can't sleep, totally bedridden. I was continuously asking my doctors to help me but they said it will take time to adjust with body. Nobody warned me about IBS, they can prescribe anti spasmodic for my abdominal pain, but unfortunately they didn't. Tomorrow I will call my gp and definitely I will ask him/ her why they didn't take a look to their books and treat me accordingly if they are not sure about it. Why why why!! Everyday I cried due to severe pain, my son was upset, he thought I'm gonna die soon! He prayed every night for me before sleeping. I am totally devastated. Please talk to oncologist if you suffer any kind of side effects. Its vary from patient to patient. Good luck.
