In my mid forties, I found a lump on right outer breast completely by chance on Thursday 19th Jan, saw my GP on Friday 20th and attended a one-stop breast clinic on Tuesday 24th. Various mammograms, ultrasounds and biopsies. Images show high chance lump found is cancerous, lump is just over 2cm but may have other specs on the mammogram so could be more than 2cm. Seeing consultant again next Tuesday once biopsy results are back. I had a breast reduction 9 years ago where they found pre-cancerous cells in the removed tissue of the right side so then went for annual mammograms for 5vyears which were all clear. Seems I dodged the cancer 9 years ago by chance but it's back. I'm petrified and currently want double mastectomy to avoid future problems but am waiting to see what results are and consultants recommendations.
Will keep in touch. I feel like I've dodged it for last 9 years as had the reduction when they found 3mm DCIS in the removed tissue so inadvertently had the lump removed during the reduction. Letter from consultant today says lump is M5U5 so image from mammogram and ultrasound shows cancer but not in lymph nodes so biopsy should give indo on type etc and next steps.
