Letrozole

Hello. I was diagnosed with lobular cancer in May 2002. Ct and mri scans showed suspicious nodules in my right lung, so I underwent lung wedge surgery in August. Thankfully the results were negative but this delayed the breast surgery until November. I am now six weeks on from a mastectomy and reconstruction and doing well. Because of the type of cancer, I have to take letrozole for five years. I wondered if any of you lovely ladies could give me any help regarding supplements for menopause symptoms which won't affect the letrozole?

Thank you in anticipation. And sending you all a big warm hug x

  • Hi Vivi Enje

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer. While I’m not on letrozole I noticed that you haven’t had any answers yet so I thought I’d reply to you to move to the top of the discussion. Hopefully someone will be along shortly with an answer for you.

Wishing you the best of luck in the future.

    Best wishes

  • Hi, I’m on Anastrazole, which works the same as letrozole. I think the reason why you haven’t received any replies might be because you asked about supplements for the menopause symptoms. Personally, I have kept clear of anything, because many supplements (I think) might do the very thing that the Letrozole is designed not to do, and we are prescribed these tablets to try to prevent a recurrence. What I can say is that the symptoms, for me, have settled. I have been on Anastrazole for 19 months now, and things got better before the 12 month mark. Perhaps my body adjusted. Exercise helped a huge amount. At first it was tough, because my joints were very painful, but it has eased a lot. Some people on this forum have changed from Letrozole to Anastrazole, and vice versa. It’s very much a personal thing. You could try chatting to your BCN to see if this might be a possibility for you.
