First time posting - hi all, diagnosed with breast cancer on left side and lymph nodes in May. I’m now post chemo and surgery and want to take my boys to family swim but not sure what to do regarding swimsuits. Any advice or suggestions welcome. Thanks
Hi Elizor welocme to the forum. I didnt have a mastectomy but a lumpectomy, however I do attend a move more swimming group with lots of women who have had mastectomies and if I'm honest I cant say that I have ever noticed. What I do know is that the swimsuits they do wear have bra cups in them and not tightly fitted at the breast area..
Im not sure where you buy all thee lovely things but I feel sure that one of the folks on here will be along soon to maybe diiect you to where you can buy swimsuits for yourself.
Hi Elizor I’ve ordered bras and a swimming costume online from Nicola Jane and found them really good. Most items have customer reviews which is helpful. They also have breast forms for swimming. I must admit though that the choice of swimsuits in winter isn’t quite as good as summer! Best of luck x
I also ordered from Nicola jane. But I also have an equally good one from Asda. I would recommend getting a swimming prosthesis as the chlorine damages the ones we are given from the hospital. My costumes are pocketed with adjustable straps. I have absolutely no concerns about the security of my prosthesis.
Hi! I bought a swimsuit from amoena, and also bought the swimming prosthesis, which dries quickly. I had read that the silicone prostheses could go mouldy as they take longer to dry. It was great, on our holiday in Majorca in Sept, and I felt confident wearing it . I bought it in the sale - if you subscribe you get bombarded with sales stuff! It still wasn't cheap but hopefully it will be a one off purchase. And buying online, you can return it for a refund if it doesn't fit! Good luck!
