Hi, I have had a lumpectomy and lymph node 12 days ago but I have now got alot of pain in my breast and underarm is this normal?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi Hollybeach welcome to the forum and sorry to hear how much pain you are experiencing.
It is very common to feel pain after the operation that you have had and it is soooo important that despite that pain, you keep doing the exercises they have given you to do after the op.
If however, the breast and underarm looks red or feels hot to touch then you need to see someone re that as that can be a sign that an infection may be starting. Did they give you any pain relief when you were discharged at all, if so, I would take that as needed for pain and if they didnt give you anything Paracetamol; for a few days is often enough to keep pain at bay.
Thanks Gail for getting back, yes I am taking ibuprofen, but maybe need to do my exercises more regularly. The pain really only started from day 12 so if it doesn't ease in a few days I'll contact my BN. Take care x
