Hi. I am Faithfilly. I am a 48 year old wife & mummy and was told yesterday by my surgeon that I have tested positive for breast cancer. It is earth shattering news. I didn't want to hear that. Suddenly I am facing the great unknown and the journey begins. It is amazing how, even though one tries to be positive minded and optimistic, the enormity of the situation creates such stress in ones body and one feels achy and tight. I am going to get a massage and some reflexology done by a facility that helps people who have been diagnosed with cancer... and maybe a pedi / mani which is so unlike me because usually I am not particularly fussed. But I am not surprised that my body is reeling from this diagnosis, and feel it is very important to stay 'connected' in this situation and to be kind to myself. I am going to make a bucket list and start really trying to look for the 'nuggets' out of each and every day (positive, lovely, kind and special moments). I will be having surgery soon followed by a group of treatments to help to eliminate the cancer but will know more next week. Nobody asks for cancer. But now that I have it I have to learn to live with it and give the people who know how to fight it the room to fight it. They are on my side.  So hello & I wish we'd met under different circumstances ...

  • Hello and welcome to club that no one wanted to join,  It's a shock but once you have your treatment plan you'll start to feel calmer,  I'm 7 years down the line - click on my name to read story.  Just remember it's not your job to make friends feel better about your diagnosis, just focus on yourself xx
