Hi
New to the group, thought I would say hello.
I was diagnosed with hormone positive, receptor negative breast cancer in early July, had my lumpectomy in August and 2 lymph nodes removed - thankfully the lump was small and the cancer hadn’t spread to the nodes. Had 5 sessions of radiotherapy which I completed about 2 weeks ago.
I’m now waiting for a follow up phone appointment and then, well I don’t know - what happens next? Is that it until my yearly mammogram?
Hi Retrorose; My diagnosis was very similar to yours. I had a follow-up phone call after RT, a bone scan and an appointment with the oncologist to check how I was coping with Anastrozole and to tell me the results of the bone scan. She signed me off, so my next appointment is a mammogram - my first after surgery - in March.
Best wishes.
Hi RetroRose, If you're in the UK, then communication from the NHS can be appalling. And the appointment letters don't always tell you the reason for the appointment. When I had a follow-up telephone call recently, she mentioned that my next face to face appt in a few months was in the reconstruction clinic, but the appt letter didn't say that so I wouldn't have known that otherwise. I have also been sent a letter for a yearly appt, 12 months after my last scan, but it doesn't say that this is a scan, just a follow-up. Suspect a scan letter will come later. Try to nail them down in your next telephone call, so you know what is coming!
