Hello all,
I am new to the group and have just been diagnosed with breast cancer, tomorrow I learn my fate as to what treatment I am going to receive . My cancer is approx 10cm and I live in the canaries , here they tend to shrink the cancer before the take it out so it looks like I may be in for either radio or chemo. Therapy .
im feeling positive and taking each day at a time.
I’ve shopped for crazy wigs and funny T-shirts and am more than ready to kick its ass.
im looking forward to chatting to some of you .
just on my coffee break so will speak again later xx
stay strong you guys x
Hello! I am also new to the group and diagnosed with breast cancer this week, awaiting treatment fate this coming Wednesday! I haven’t posted anywhere yet but I read this and it felt so similar to where I am and how I’m coping so just wanted to comment and say, you definitely will kick its ass and I love this attitude! X
Hi Las
thanks for your message .
I have found a book on my
kindle called The complete guide to breast cancer , it’s written by two nurses who have been through it , it’s so helpful and lets you understand everything we may go through. It has given me an idea of what questions to ask too. You may find it helpful.
I also started a diary when I got diagnosed which helps me deal with my feelings , you can be honest to your diary.
I have to say, I’m not sure if it hasn’t hitE yet or I’m in total denial but I honestly feel ‘normal’ so my mantra is until I feel any different in carrying on as normal.
how are you coping ?
Thank you for the book recommendation I will absolutely give that a try!
we sound very similar, I also brought a book to diary this crazy journey. I want to keep it to remind how far I’ve come and also to be able to go through with my son when he is old enough to understand (he is only 2)
I honestly really love your attitude and even if at some point during your journey that changes that’s okay and it sounds like you have good mechanisms in place to deal with it but I am also here to talk if you need it
me and my partner are coping by laughing through the hard parts which really helps. We are continuing to be exactly how we’ve always been despite this horrible things that’s happening to us. I feel quite similar to you, nothing has changed yet except we’ve heard some words but I still feel like me and I want to keep that as long as I can! Although I definitely have days where it all feels so overwhelming and there can be lots of tears but I try to start each day off new and positive and put the negative thoughts and worries to bed with me at night!!
