Hello all,

I was diagnosed with breast cancer two weeks ago. Micro calcifications in 2 areas of my right breast, 8mm & 14mm. The larger one being IDC.
This afternoon I have my appointment with the breast surgeon. I have no idea what to expect, but I have written down some questions to ask him.

Can anyone advise what is usually done at the first appointment? Do I get told what options there are for my treatment? Will I be told when the treatment is likely to take place? So many questions and feeling a little scared and apprehensive this morning.

Thank you for reading my post Pray

  • Hi Valleyside, sorry to hear of your diagnosis.
When I first met with my surgeon/consultant she examined me and then we went through everything. I was told that my tumour was fed by hormones and HER2 positive. She explained what surgery I was going to have (lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy)and then what treatments would follow and I was given a care/treatment  plan to take home with all the information on. There is a lot to take in so if you have someone who can go with you it helps as they can also take notes for you. I was also given an information pack from the BCN too for reading through and giving explanations for each stage. If I had any questions I could call them or contact my surgeon/consultant who would answer any of my questions.

Hope this helps and all the best for your appointment and treatment plan.

  • Hi Cuffcake, thank you for your reply. I’ve met with my consultant and things are so much clearer. It’s a long road, but light at the end of the tunnel. I’m blessed that my cancer was caught early xx
