Hi, I'm TikkiB. I was diagnosed with stage 1 invasive lobular breast in early October this year. 2 biopsies and 1 MRI later, I am going in for a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy tomorrow. Have been feeling fairly pragmatic about it , and grateful for it being picked up in my routine mammogram, but am now starting to feel nervous about the surgery., having never had a GA or be in hospital before.
Hi TikkiB, I had a GA for both my ops and they were fine. The anaesthetist should run through everything with you and answer any queries you have. As Sapphire said have clothes that are easy to get on after, maybe something like jogging bottoms and a shirt as you may not want to try and put a jumper on over your head as you will be more limited with arm movement for a little bit. Also please do the exercises you are given, this will help with the healing and getting movement back in your arm.
All the best for your surgery.
