Newly diagnosed tripple negative breast cancer

Hi I've just been diagnosed with tripple negative breast cancer. I had  a lumpectomy and found out that the margins and lymph nodes were clear of cancer.

I've to see the oncologist in 2 weeks to discuss chemo and radiotherapy  which they want to do both.

I've been rather positive until now. I just feel very flat even after i found that the cancer has not spread. I'm sort of fixated that tripple negative cancer is an aggressive  cancer and worried that it still may return after chemo and radiotherapy.

Are there any ladies that have had tripple negative cancer that are doing really well after chemo and radiotherapy.

Also the pain under my arm where lymph nodes were taken out is extremely  painful. They think its nerve pain and I've bn prescribed amitriptilyn so hopefully......

Good to have found this.

  • Hi Haphzi Beebee

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer.  Triple negative breast cancer is very treatable.  Because it's known as an aggressive cancer your medical team thrown everything but the kitchen sink at it. However it looks like they found it early enough for a complete recovery.

I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer two years ago which was in both my left breast and in one of my lymph nodes.  I was looked after very well by my medical team despite my treatment being in the middle of Covid.  I have been cancer free since March 2021 which was when I had my surgery.

Wishing you the best of luck with your treatments.

    Best wishes

  • Ahh thank you  it's so encouraging  to hear that you are now cancer free.

I'm just terrified of going through chemo but I know that it's so necessary. I'm coping by window shopping beanies and bohemian style headscarfs lol.

    Thanks for your encouragement.
