Hi everyone
I had a lumpectomy and sentinel node removal two weeks ago. One incision which looks all closed now and clean.
however, the pain is getting worse not better. I have been doing the over head exercises now and wonder if that’s the cause? Is it normal to have pain and swelling? Not a seroma- just swelling above and below wound which feel like hard lumps.
seeing doctor on Wednesday so can ask her too.
best wishes to everyone
Hi Sml, like you I had one long incision for lump removal and sentinel node sampling. It’s so hard to know what is ‘normal’ now as even many years down the line, bits of the treated breast are tender and definitely some lumpy bits too. But so far all mammograms and manual prodding show NED (no evidence of disease). I would have said to phone the breast clinic but it sounds like you’re seeing the doctor there in a few days. I had a lot of swelling, including a big haematoma on the lower half of the breast but I can’t remember the timescale of it ‘resolving’. I’d carry on doing the exercises but not if it hurts at the time? I do remember discomfort for quite a long time but not too much pain. Hope you get reassurance on Wednesday.
Wishing you well and sending a big (but gentle) virtual hug your way, HFxx
