Scared

Hi everyone

I found myself on this forum after visiting the breast clinic yesterday and having biopsies done. The Radiologist said there is an area of concern which could either be scar tissue from previous surgery to remove a fibroadenoma or it could be cancer. I also have a swelling around a lymph node. I have to wait 2 weeks for the results of the biopsies. Apparently there is a scale of 1 to 5 they use at the clinic, 1 being they are certain it isn't cancer and 5 being they are sure it is. They have put me at a 3 which is bang in the middle so I guess I have a 50/50 chance of it being ok or not.

Just wanted to see if anyone has any advice on how to get through the next 2 weeks. My partner keeps telling me to stay positive and I am trying but I am also terrified and trying to prepare myself for the news if it is bad when the results come back.

Any advice please?

Thank you xx

  • Hi AndiM

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you are facing a diagnosis of breast cancer.  Try keeping yourself busy doing the things you love for the next two weeks which hopefully will keep your mind of your impending diagnosis.  It may be benign but if it is cancer know that breast cancer is very treatable so while it may seem like it a cancer diagnosis isn't the end of the world.  Get out in the fresh air as much as you can as being outdoors can be helpful for your mental health.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago and after having chemo, surgery and radiotherapy I am now cancer free.

Wishing you the best of luck with your results in two weeks time.

    Best wishes

Thank you for your reply. I will definitely try and keep busy and try and distract myself.

Great to hear your positive outcome too, it does remind me that it doesn’t have to mean the worst, even  if I don’t get the result I want in two weeks.

    Thanks again
