Hi everyone

Had lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy a week ago for an invasive breast cancer. I’m 50 and luckily found the lump myself in April. First biopsy in May was all clear but the ultrasound was a 4 on the 0-5 scale so I was called back 8 weeks later and this time biopsy showed cancer.

17mm and Grade 2 at the moment. Hormone positive and HER2 negative.

Awaiting further results and treatment plan. A wee bit anxious about the 8 weeks that passes between the first and second biopsy. Otherwise, trying to stay positive and trust in all the amazing doctTwo heartss and treatments availableTwo heartsPray

  • Hi Sml

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Best of luck with your results and with whatever treatment plan they come up with once they have all the information they need about your cancer.

    Best wishes

It's been a strange year, but I'm still fighting and winning! You can too!

  • Great to hear things going well in your treatment.Thumbsup

I am now two weeks post op and the pain and swelling is getting worse not better. Is this normal. I’m now in the overhead exercises and wonder if that’s the cause? Bandage is off and wound looks closed and clean.

best wishes to youTwo heartsTwo hearts

  • The same happened to me, but my specialist nurse warned me it would get worse before it got better. I had day surgery mastectomy and no wound covering, it was ok and healed nicely, but the exercises were tough and I developed cording too, which made it really sore.  But if you can persevere gently and a little at a time, things do improve. I had to have the wound drained a couple of times too after the drain came out post op. The seroma fluid build up also made it quite sore. I find the worst bit now is the numbness, from the lymph node clearance.

Best wishes and keep going, you can do this! xx
