Hello everyone, I am happy with my breast cancer operation.
I want to know from others if they had cosmetic surgery in my cases to realign the breasts (following the not even now)
Want to know what people think if this is acceptable or if they had it and think it is worth doing.
Hi RanjitP
I had my op over 5 years ago and at the time it wasn't mentioned to me (except by the surgeon just before the operation!) that I would have a dent in my breast as I had 80mm removed. Had I known beforehand I would have asked if they could have filled it in! When I had my annual appointment with my BC nurse she said, "you can always have it done later". By that time there was no way I wanted to be cut open again and still wouldn't. It took over a year before my breast stopped hurting whenever I lifted anything.
However, now, as I say over 5 years down the line, it is filling itself in a bit. It never looked odd in a bra, it's just I noticed the dent and my nipple was slightly to the side, but now it looks more 'normal' to me.
I guess what I'm saying is that if it's not a massive unevenness, then it might improve with time. But on the other hand, if you want to have reconstructive surgery and you feel that the operation is worth it, then it would certainly be worth it if it makes you feel better about how you look.
Hope this helps a little,
Lesley
Thanks for replying to me.
I am thinking if there an improvement to think have it done.
Hi RanjitP
in April I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer. I had two lumpectomies and removal of all the lymph glands on same side. Although my left breast is smaller, at a youthful 67, I wouldn’t want any cosmetic surgery. It’s definitely a personal choice and if I was 20 years younger I would probably feel differently. It is something I’ve discussed with my husband and he agrees. I’m happy in my skin!
I am thinking the same, I just turned 54 and thinking if I was older then I may reconsider not to have it.
I worried if I am putting myself through something that won’t have much of an impact. Husband has said he is fine with it so that makes think not to go through with it.
If anyone has had it done….then wonder is worth considering.
