Hi,

My name is Debby. I have recently (3 days ago) had my first Mammogram after breast surgery/radiation a year ago. The radiologist had to complete Mammogram again whilst I was there, and stated not to worry if I was called back.

I had a lump & 12 lymph nodes removed from my left breast/under my arm. Did not need radiotherapy due to very low percentage of breast cancer returning. I have lymphedema in my arm/side of left breast.

This morning I been called for another Mammogram & Ultrasound (1 weeks time). Has anyone had experience of having to go back re their Mammograms not being clear or other reasons after breast cancer? Being positive, but can’t help being a little concerned.
thank you.

  • Hi Debby

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you had breast cancer a year ago.  It may be that they found something suspicious when you had your mammogram and they just want to check it out to make sure that everything is alright.  I got called back after my first mammogram about 4 years ago as there was a suspicious lump in my right breast.  I had an ultrasound and a biopsy.  However the lump turned out to as far as I can remember a blocked milk duct..

Wishing you the best of luck with your second Mammogram and Ultrasound.  Hopefully it's nothing serious.

    Best wishes

  • Thank you so much Daisy for taking the time to reply. This has really helped, automatically think it’s bad news due to previous diagnosis, but as you say, it can be other things too..

Best wishes & Good luck staying healthy & well always!
