Hello,
I had a right breast cancer diagnosis last year which was hormonal and found by mammogram, I had a lumpectomy and then radiotheraphy in March now on Letrozole for 5 years.
On the 8 July I found a large lump in my left breast, I contacted my doctors that morning, the receptionist told me I could see no one and I would have to wait a month for an appt, I persisted and was given an appt a week later with a health hub doctor then had to wait for a further 2 week wait for a referral, but luckily they contacted me a week later instead.
Anyway I have now been diagnosed with a more agressive form of cancer with 3 lumps, 1 large and two smaller ones, I have to have chemo for 5 months then surgery, I am not dealing with this one at all well.
Hi Kichy, sorry you find yourself back on the rollercoaster. If you’re new here then a very warm welcome to the forum, and if you’ve been here before then welcome back, although I’m sorry it’s because you’re facing a new cancer and more extensive treatment. You’ll get lots of support here, doesn’t take it away but you’ll never be going through it alone. There’s a whole separate thread for chemo which might be useful once you start. Or you can start your own threads with specific issues or queries.
Sending love and a big virtual hug your way, HFxx
Thank you for your kind words, HappyFeet1.
It is my first visit here, I had thought about joining last year when the first diagnosis was made, but I managed to cope with my family and friends support. As this is a different type of cancer it has hit me for six, as I have no idea where it came from and how short the timeframe of less than 6 months, since the last one.
I am also going through NHS England who are investigating my complaint about my GP Surgery, as no empathy or assistance with my initial contact. I just feel so angry about it all.
No wonder you are angry Kichy, that response from GP surgery was appalling. In future could you bypass them and phone the breast clinic? I have self referred several times since my diagnosis back in autumn 2018. I leave a message on the breast nurse contact number and one of them phones back, often the same day. They then talk through the issue and have so far always arranged for me to see a nurse quickly, who’ll then fetch one of the doctors if necessary. But I know that services vary from one trust to another. I would be very unlikely to get such a fast response from my GP practice, and I never seem to see the same one twice.
I hope that now you’re back in the breast clinic system that everything happens quickly. Love and hugs, HFxx
Hi Kichy,
I too have been diagnosed with a left breast cancer, after recovering from a right breast cancer 2 years ago. Apparently this new one is unrelated, and is also more aggressive. I do sympathize with your situation. I actually changed my GP surgery in between times as the 1st one gave appalling 'service'. If there is any chance of you moving to a decent surgery, it would be really good for peace of mind to know that help will be available as you go through treatment! I too have struggled to deal with my treatment. MacMillan nurses have helped me and there is also good support at the Maggie's Centres if there is one near you. Best of luck with everything x
Thank you Rhapsody, sorry to hear that you too are going through all this again, it just does not seem fair, does it. I am currently awaiting the investigation results from NHS England, when I have that I will make a decision about the GP Surgery.
I will find out if there is a Maggies Centre near me.
You take care.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
