  • Hi, I was diagnosed with DCIS back in April. Had two vac biopsies which showed high grade and intermediate DCIS. Had therapeutic mammoplasty on 21st July. Once the ball gets rolling everything happens really quickly. I’ve got my pathology results from the surgery next Thursday and hoping everything is ok. Take each appointment at a time and try to go with the flow. Once treatment starts it tends to help a little because something positive is happening. It’s also positive that it’s DCIS which is grade 0 cancer and it’s very treatable. Hope everything goes well for you and try not to worry too much (I know, easier said than done). X

  • Hi another DCIS here. A little further along, mastectomy and reconstruction planned for just under a month (my DCIS covers a large area and is high grage).  I found the first few weeks horrible, like a big dark cloud hanging over me. I'd only told my partner initially and I felt like I was hiding a terrible secret. I'm feeling much more positive as I've gone along (but obviously scared about the surgery). As says, DCIS is grade 0 cancer, and now you know about it, it can be dealt with.  There are some amazing ladies on this forum and I've had great advice from others at different stages of their journey.

Have you had your biopsies?  Be kind to yourself, take your time.

One thing I've done that has helped massively is decide to get fit before I start any treatment - I try and do a run every other day and am eating more healthily. Definitely improved my mood and helps to clear my head. xx
