  • Hi, initially diagnosed with DCIS plus IDC, stage 1, grade 2. However, lumpectomy revealed a bigger mass, plus sentinel node spread. Had axilla clearance and notes surgeon left show spread in non-sentinel nodes. So, potentially looking at late stage 3 or even stage 4. Feel overwhelmed. Can’t eat or sleep well. Have just started antidepressants, as I need extra support. Feel very alone.
  • Hi Fergy

i had the same initial change. My biopsy was grade 2 and my lymph nodes biopsied clear and also seemed that way on ultrasound and MRI. Post surgery finding were grade 3 in four lymph nodes, one of which was not a sentinel node.  I still had a clear CT scan and have just finished chemo.

it was the worst time but they will check everything thoroughly and I’ve heard many positive stories of people with really high lymph node involvement- long term stories.

I hope you can get a scan and a little peace of mind. all the best with it xx

  • Hi, Hel39, thanks for the quick response and positivity-I r need that. Hoping to speak to the surgeon tomorrow, but scared at what he’ll say he saw! I don’t think they’ll do a CT until after the histology report on the axilla. Still q a bit of a wait.

  • Hi

I had a very similar story iniatial diagnosis was grade 2 20mm lump it ended up after many scans lastly having a pet scan as I needed double masectomy lump 8.2 cm and 10 lymph nodes involved , however all this is still treatable so try not to worry , easily said as my panic was exactly the same but talking to people on here helps , hope everything goes ok x

  • Hi, Mich and Hel, thanks for your positive post. Obvs, can’t help but worry, as scans may show up a wider spread. Yes, it may be treatable but not curable. Apologies, can’t seem to see any light at the end of the tunnel.

  • Hi Fergy46

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer and are struggling at the moment.  No need to apologise for how you are feeling at the moment, we've all been there.

Hope everything goes ok for you.

    Best wishes
