I had a mastectomy and sentinel lump node removal last week and the operation went well. I am not in pain , just twinges, and have not had to take any painkillers. Of course I am pleased about that but I am now thinking about the follow up and decisions about treatment. The histology has confirmed Grade1 invasive ducal/ tubular carcinoma, ER positive, HER2 FISH awaited from both lesions . I have looked this up but would like to have it explained more. I am hoping I don’t have to have chemotherapy
Thank you Daisy for your good wishes. I am doing really well and have very little pain. I have great big bruises and swellings . Of course now I am worried about follow up treatment .Is there anyone to discuss the treatment following a mastectomy.? Best wishes Coral

Hi Coral
Depending on the results from your operation you may have to have Chemo and radiotherapy. The is a chemo thread on here which you can look at and ask questions on. If you look at the diagnosis and treatment section of the breast cancer forum you will find it there, there’s a radiotherapy thread there also. You can also ring the helpline on 0808 808 00 00 and ask to talk to one of the nurse specialists who will be able to tell you about your treatment options.
Best wishes
