Hi everyone i wondered if anybody knows how safe it is to be waiting 8 weeks between surgeries as i hadcmy surgery 13th May to take a 24mm tumor from my left breast but the margin came back close so they need to take out some more butvi have been waiting 8 weeks does anyone know can the cancer still grow or be spreading as im very concerned and can not get any straight answers x
Hello Angel123 I had my second surgery 2 weeks after the first one. I thought this was good as the scar wasn't completely healed. My first surgery was delayed by 7 weeks as I had covid, but as I was ER positive I was put on Tamoxifen to stop it growing. Have you been put on anything whilst your waiting..hope you get sorted soon..xx
Hi Deeds and thank you for your reply was your margin close to? So the second surgery came back clear? What size was your tumor? I waited 28 days from finding out i had the tumour to surgery then its just been a joke since waiting and waiting i would have thought like you they would have gone back in after a couple of weeks as now my surgery has healed and now they have got to open it all up again, and no they have put me on nothing im very disappointed with the NHS at the moment x
My tumour was 14mm to start with, then when it was removed after I had covid 7 weeks later it was 17mm. Mine was a grade 3 fast growing cancer..yes it came back clear after 2nd surgery..did they say what grade yours is and if it was ERvPR or HER2 positive or negative . Seems very long to wait, I was told the tamoxifen would slow mine down as I waited on first surgery..xx
Hi
i waited 7 weeks between my first surgery and node clearance and then another 7 weeks to start chemo. They kept saying it was to heal but I can see other people had stuff just a couple of weeks apart and know it was due to being overburdened. I know it’s not the staff’s fault, but it was really scary and I’d rather have travelled elsewhere that wait. It was four months between diagnoses and starting chemo so anything systemic had quite a long time there.
I hope you get a date soon. Xx
