Hello all
I’m new to the online community and look forward to seeing what I can learn from you. I am currently on Tamoxifen and have been on it for six years, my oncologist has warned me that I should now come off it due to the fact of the risks which include DVT, womb thickening that could lead to cancer in that area. I’m told due to the cancer being small, caught early and the treatment I had, my risks now are the ones mentioned about and not breast cancer which is small
I have always known patients to be on Tamoxifen for 10 years, so I was a little bit alarmed when I was asked to come off it now, initially I was asked to come off it last year which would’ve been five years but I chose to stay on it for an extra year so I can think about it.
I’m wondering if anyone has been I’m this position and if so what did you decide to do. I
Many thanks and look forward to hearing from you
Have you tried the NHS predict tool? That might give an indication of benefit. I am mid-40s and only going to be on hormone blockers for 5 years, though I chose to have zoladex & exemestane rather than tamoxifen
