Hi I was diagnosed with cancer 4 weeks ago, which has knocked me sideways. Since the diagnosis I have had a lumpectomy and am recovering from it. They operation was a success but now waiting to heal before I can have mammogram to see what the next step is for me. My emotions are all over the place. I had to come off HRT because my cancer is oestrogen fed. I’ve not been sleeping well at all and feel like a zombie most days. Any advise would be appreciated. X
Hi sparkle
like you I had terrible trouble sleeping, I live in south London and got in touch with Paul’s centre in Battersea and they gave me 4 reflexology and 1 hypnosis sessions which really helped me , if your not in London your local hospital may run similar sessions, I wish you all the best
Tony
Hello. My sleep is still terrible. I'm 1 year post surgery. I think mine is combination of menopause symptoms and tamoxifen. I have resorted to sleeping pills from doctor but only take once a week. I also treated myself to about 10 sessions of acupuncture which have helped my hot flushes and has helped my sleep. My GP also recommended either Headspace or Calm apps which I've yet to try. Meditation and breathing exercises don't do much for me. As everyone is different, I suggest trying a few different things to see which work best for you. I've even resorted to afternoon naps when very tired. My hormones are also over the place. I've become a lot more emotional and anxious but not sure what I can do about that. Trial and error on this topic. Good luck x
My emotions are all over the place since coming off HRT. Trying to find the correct pathway forward with oestrogen fed cancer is really difficult.
I empathise with this. I was on the pill for years and had to come off before my surgery. Emotional is an understatement. But not every day is a bad day. Some days are OK but the bad days can make me feel very low and weepy. Take it one day at a time to start with. I'm also trying to eat better and take regular exercise but this can be hit and miss x
