I was diagnosed with grade 3 ER breast cancer at Christmas, had a single mastectomy in January without reconstruction, followed by Axillary node clearance beginning of March, have since had a PET CTBlushcan which thankfully was all clear, cancer free the nurse said, I have my 1st Oncology appointment later this week regarding chemo, radiotherapy and hormone treatment, I have been so positive beforeBlushnd after both surgeries but really anxious about the next stage in my recovery/journey, feel as if I’m normal again and can’t wait to get back  to work but not looking forward to feeling ill when I’Blushnot ill if that makes sense. I’m grateful for the care and treatment available but can’t wait for normality to return Blush

  • Totally get it. Had lumpectomy Jan for Grade 2, Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Clear Margins and lymph nodes. ER8  but HER2 positive. Cancer free! Having to have FECT for 6 cycles, had 4th cycle today. Plus started Herceptin injections today for a year, every 3 weeks (that was pretty horrid, really stung, had to keep stopping). Probably just me being a wuss! Radiotherapy needed too. All to try and prevent reoccurrence. Difficult concept for me. Feel okay atm, having counselling starting next week to try and help my head move on with all this  Jo x

  • Thanks for your reply, your not a wuss at all, I suppose till I see the oncologist I’m still very much in the dark, it just seems ages since my surgery 9th March and I’m starting to feel like me agaIn, but that’s all probably going to change soon, I’m not Her+ just ER, thought having full clearance might make me avoid chemo but hey ho onwards & upwards, take care and best wishes

  • Hair loss has been the worst for me. Hate how I look now. Shouldn't be so vain! Jo x

  • It’s not vain at all, this will be the part I’m dreading most if I need chemo, my hair takes ages to grow and I’ve just got it to nice length, I’ve decided I’m going to get a wig to wear when my grandkids come or if I’m out and will wear scarves at home, keep telling myself will save on hairdressers, shampoo etc but would prefer to have the expense!!  Can’t believe I’ve had a booby chopped off, other bits cut away and yet I’m stressing over hair, take care & onwards and upwards to us all!

  • Welcome Halley, I also was diagnosed with grade 3 stage1 ER+Her2 neg, lymph nodes clear  had lumpectomy in October then started chemo END of December , radiotherapy started on Monday and will end Friday then I'm on Tamoxifen for 5 to 10 years.. I had a biopsy sent to America for an oncotype DX score and it came back at a score of 31 which was a high recurrence score so had to have chemo too. Hopefully you might get away without it..j really can't wait either to feel like normal again or the new normal as some people say. It's a roller coaster of a ride. Days you'll feel great and others you'll feel shit. But you'll get through it..especially if you have a good support network around you. Get all the advice you can regarding your work. In case you do need chemo..Good luck Halley xx

  • I've got my wig. Feels far too 'full'. Hairdresser chopped into it, but still not quite right for me! Go 'bald' at home, wear scarves/beanie chemo caps out and about. Miss my hair!!  Pics below

In my wig that's 'too full'

  • You look amazing on both photos, still smiling too!!! Colour co ordinated too, onwards & upwards! Xx

  • Still looking good, keep imaging what I will look like bald lol!! Hope I can get a wig that looks like my hair xx

  • I will regarding work, been told I will be on tablets for 10 years because of type of BC and my age, that’s all I know, chemo & radiotherapy was mentioned by my breast consultant but just seems a while to wait for further treatment from  having my clearance beginning March
