Hi,

I'm newly diagnosed  with triple negative  stage 2a breast cancer, had mammogram,  ultra sound and biopsy done on same day, advised that day it was cancer 19th April,  biopsy came back, saw Dr on 12th May,  he confirmed  diagnosis,  had MRI on 14th May , now received  letter , not seeing oncologist  until 8th June, thats another 3 weeks before I see anyone!! Supposed  to have chemo first, then lumpectomy  then radiotherapy,  is everyone else having these big waits in-between  appointments? Anyone been able to speed things up?

It’s probably not helpful to you but may reassure you.  Your treatment seems to be progressing more quickly than mine. I was diagnosed on 18th March. My surgery  which is the start of my treatment is in the second week of June. It seems the lab tests are all taking longer and I guess this slows things for everyone.

The waiting is horrendous . I just try to focus on eating well exercising and trying to stay positive. Treatments are so good these days.

    Best wishes

  • Thanks Millie,

I rang my BCN as was told it would  be 2/ 3 weeks from diagnosis  as I have an aggressive  cancer,  she said aware time scale longer than anticipated,  requested priority if cancellation  becomes  available,  seems big backlogs, not alot can do, been told haven't got to wait 3 weeks for mri results 1 now, so happier about that xx

  • I think waiting is commonplace but I can totally relate that it is exasperating and difficult. Do what you can to distract yourself and keep yourself fit and healthy ready for the chemo. The wait feels long, but it is so much better to get the right treatment plan (all the scans are necessary for that). It is so much easier once you get that treatment plan and you know what is ahead. Hope you can get that cancellation appointment x
