Hello everyone,  I just had my first of five radiotherapy sessions today   all went well, everything was explained and I was made comfortable on the table, it wasn't long til it was over. I got cream to put on 3 times a day. Just Waiting on side effects to kick in, or maybe I'll be ok..how was everyone else after theirs..xx

  • I didn't find anything happened until 2 weeks after my first one and they peak about 2 weeks after your last one. I just creamed away until the skin settled. Skin changes were pretty mild - a bit discoloured, a bit itchy, not too much else. Hope you find the same x

  • Thanks for that Zephyr, yes hopefully I'll not find it too bad. Glad you weren't too bad either..x

  • I finished my 15 sessions last week and I had a large area done and skin is fine at the moment, just few little red spots in one area and the rest all pink but not itchy or painful x

  • Well done on finishing your radiotherapy mel.

    Best wishes

  • I'm sure your glad that's over with. We'll done and glad you got through it..I had a sick stomach this morning and a feel tired. Xx

  • Hi Deeds

i had the condensed radiotherapy and had an itchy rash a couple of weeks later. Just carry on with the cream I did it every day. I did notice that the radiotherapy made any marks already on your breast go darker. I was told this was permanent. Fatigue and brain fog came too but you just have to do what your body tells you to do like napping. I’m getting better now but it takes time.. Be positive and remind yourself the side effects are helping you recover.

Best wishes with your treatment x

  • Hi Rose 15b, thanks so much for reply. Yes they did say about breast changes such as colour and size changes. Had a chat with radiographer this morning, she said breast cancer radiotherapy treatment has changed over covid,  you would of had 25 fractions over 3 weeks and now with new studies it showed that condensing these into 5 treatments is  just as beneficial. And also better for anyone traveling, I suppose we just have to be very thankful that these procedures can be done and as you say stay positive..hope your keeping well xx

  • So glad your radiotherapy is finished mel and that your side effects have not been too troublesome. It must be a relief and mixed blessing to get to the end and be recovering now. How are you feeling about it all now?
