Diagnosed with breast cancer last July have now finished chemo and had a lumpectomy,

I start my radiotherapy next Monday.  Have just had my fourth injection of herceptamin and my Oncologist told me yesterday that he now wants to change that to TDM1 injections, just wondered if anyone was on them and if they suffer any side effects.

much love

  • Hi Jean, out of interest, did the oncologist say why he wants to make this change? I am wondering if this is due to a change in their protocols or to something patient-specific.

  • Hi Jean

I finished my active treatment in March (lumpectomy, chemo, radiotherapy all complete).I too am on Herceptin and have my 7th one tomorrow.

Also interested in your change of treatment- I don't even know what TDM1 injections are?

  • Hi Greycats

I think that the change is due to the results of my lump at the lab he said that there were some residual cells there and he thinks that the TDM1 would be more beneficial to me rather than the Herceptin but I won’t know that until he has checked with the Pharmacist to see if I can change as I now have had 4 sessions of it at 3 weekly sessions.

    Thanks for the welcome BlushBlushBlushBlush

  • Hi Jacala

I did look it up on internet and does come up with another brand name of Trastuzumab Emtansine I would have to have these done over at the chemo ward but the Herceptin I was having them at home.  HoBlushwas the radiotherapy? Many side effects? BlushBlush

  • Ahhh ok. So many different combinations of drugs.

Radiotherapy was a doddle after chemo. I only had 5 sessions though. I just felt very tired but my skin was fine.

  • I'm on day 3 of 5 of radiotherapy today, so far so good, deffs s doddle compared to chemo, tiredness hasn't hit me yet. Hope your all doing OK.xx
