I was diagnosed yesterday see surgeon on Friday to explain treatment. Won't kid on I'm so scared of the unknown and think you are all so brave.
Hi Grannyx
Sorry to hear you get to join this club but welcome everyone one here is lovely whether you want to rant ask question or just seek a bit of reassurance were all here to help as we all know how scaryhis whole thing is the biggest thing I would say for going to see your surgeon /consultant is if you can take someone with you and give them a pen and paper so that they can write everything down as
ou will probably only hear some of what is said maybe give them your questions list too as when your given lots of information at once it's easy to forget thing as to us being brave we really aren'
we are just as scarf as you but like you we don't have much choice but to deal with it I think our family's are much braver as they get to watch us go through this and inlits of ways can't make thin
better hope Friday goes ok and remember if you need to talk there will always be someone here

Thanks I don't even know what I should be asking?? Just need to go with the flow and take their advice xx
Morning Grannyx
You haven't said what your diagnosis is but mine is stage 3 triple negative idc right breast and my treatment has been lots of biopsy mammogram s,ultrasounds and MRIs in the beginning 2weeks after diagnosis followed by transfer over to oncology consultant (I'm having chemo then surgery then radiotherapy )thing is found i should have asked at that point are how long treatment would last as I totally miss understood when they told me I would have 8cycles so was thinking I would be all done with chemo now and starting getting ready for surgery but when they said cycle they ment 8 lots of 4 lots of treatments which means I've not even reached the half way mark yet I also should have asked what happened with the chemo as different drugs are given different ways so when I went for my first treatment it was nothing like I expected the last thing I think will be important to find out about is if your having chemo is if you can have a pic or port line put in these are access line that you have in all the time to make it easier on your veins rather than them having to jab you each time I was lucky in that my biopsy had given me terrible bruising and so had having the nessasary blood test so straight away they made the decision that I was having a port this is a tube that is inserted into one of the larger veins in your chest so once it settles down is hardly visible and doesn't get in the way you just have to remember to wear a top that give easy access to it on treatment days a pic is like tubing that is put in the arm and so you have the tubing to be careful of I think people get a sleeve like wrap thing to wear over it but again it means less needle sticks hope this helps

Thank you so much. I wasn't told anything on Tuesday other than I have cancer in my left breast and will need surgery nothing about stage I asked but was told consultant will talk to me on Friday. You have given me things to keep in mind to ask.Good luck on your journey and thank you so much xx
I was given my diagnosis today by the consultant and we discussed surgery. There is certainly a lot to take in. You will probably have to think about what form of surgery you want. I need surgery, then radiotherapy and hormone treatment. I go back in a week to firm up the plan and decide on what op to have. I also saw one of the breast care nurses and they are really good at helping you make sense of things. Don't worry about what you need to ask. My head was spinning too much to think straight! They gave me a lot of booklets as well. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. Best wishes. xxx
