had masectomy in 2014 (one side)   dieppe flap reconstruction some yrs later.

as you cannot have a mammogram on reconstructed side,  has anyone had a "Scan" on reconstructed side,  or what ?   (if so, what type of scan did you have.

any help much appreciated.

thanks

  • Hi, I think if you have had a mastectomy they don't scan the reconstructed side unless there are any symptoms of concern like scar changes or lumps in the armpit for example. There is very little of your breast tissue left after a mastectomy so the risk of recurrence at the chest wall is low, if all the cancer was removed at surgery.
