Just had 3 sessions of epiubicin and cyclophosphamide chemos over the last 9 weeks .I have a first bad week then pick up. I'll be going into weekly carboplatin and paclitaxel soon. Just wondering how the they all differ, so will the weekly ones be as bad and follow the same pattern sickness wise etc ? I have triple negative breast cancer.
Hi star
I have just started on Pac/carb after having EC for the last 4 and I have to say untill I hit a problem this was much easier on me it's given in a different way EC was given via syringe into my port but Pac/carb is given as a bag of anti allergy/sickness first then a bag of Pac followed by a glocose flush and then the carb so it took a lot longer 3 1/2-4 hours as apose to 1 1/2 hours but I didn't feel anywhere near as sick sadly I then ended up my white cells going crazy which made me feel awful but this was down to a problem with my filgrasim injection not the chemo so hopefully you will find the new drugs kinder on you Ii hope all goes ok XXX D
I'm sorry to hear you haven't been well..as if we haven't enough to put up 3. Thanks for your reply hipe you are well soon x
Hi Star, is it weekly for both Carboplatin and Paclitaxel?
I have had EC like you, and start weekly Paclitaxel with Carboplatin every 3rd week.
l also have TNBC.
I found that I was unwell for 3 days after chemo, then felt back to normal I am hoping the next 12 weekly ones are similar
x
I had 4 x EC and like you I found first 9 or 10 days hard going but slowly got easier. Now on Paxitaxol x 12, 2 down, 10 to go. the journey twice a week ..one is for line flush and bloods...is a bit of a pain, as its 20 miles each way and diesel costing 179.9 my way, it isn't cheap, but its worth it to me as so far, much gentler. no steroids or injections to sort out at home, heaven! I was sitting opposite a poor lady who had a horrendous reaction to Docetaxol last week, so pleased I persuaded onco to take me off DX and put onto PX instead. fingers and toes crossed for you Star. x
Hi Star, what was wrong with your filgrasim injections?
no reason to think why it shouldn't be the same but of course we are all different. I still had anti sick tabs from EC so I took no tablets or anything at all home. felt strange! I have had heartburn but omeprazole sorts it. that's about it so far! do post and let us know how it goes. it is a longer treatment,, they say to allow 3 hrs but generally I'm done in just over two. x
