Hi, I’ve now had BC three times.  25 years ago I had a mastectomy and tramflap reconstruction.  Last year I was diagnosed with stage 2 invasive cancer in left breast.  I had a lumpectomy with radiotherapy a few weeks later.  On the day radiotherapy started I had a biopsy on the other - mastectomy - side.  That turned out to be invasive grade 2 lobular cancer in tissue left behind after mastectomy so many years before.  Another lumpectomy in January this year and radiotherapy last month.  I’ve been on Anastrozole since last October.  My appetite has decreased while my weight has increased.  I’m permanently tired and am having trouble using my right arm after the January surgery where a number of lymph nodes were taken - all clear thank goodness.  My treatment is over but my right side was burnt  during radiotherapy and the burnt skin is now slowly coming off.  How to I regain energy?  Everything takes so much longer as I’m only really using one arm.  My husband is doing most of the cooking and I just feel - useless.  Even getting dressed is painful as moving my shoulder hurts so much.  I’m having physio for it but so far no improvement. I’m 75 so is it age related but I was ok before both these latest surgeries and radiotherapies.  Sorry for long post

  • I havent had radiotherapy but my friend did and swears that using aloa vera gel her skin healed quicker than other women and very much helped.  I have used it myself after having mastectomy in January and massaged in on scar and under arm it has healed very well.  Do hope you feeling well soon

  • Might be worth a blood test at surgery as it might not be related to cancer treatment but something like diabetes.
