Hi - just want to say hello. I was diagnosed at the end of last year and following 2 lumpectomies I am now having chemo to ensure no stray cancer cells are lurking. I am on having 3 cycles of EC and then 9 of Taxol. I am on my second cycle of EC and this one has been tough in that it has completely floored me energy wise. My hair has started to fall out and to be honest, this was the one aspect of Chemo that I really wasn't looking forward to so I am going to get my daughter to shave it all off this week and get rid of it once and for all. This morning I seem to be alot better so onwards and upwards. Going through this so far has been such a shock but I am now coming to terms with it although the tough exterior has disappeared. Hope that you are all doing well and coping with whatever this rollercoaster throws at you.
Hi Jed, I am on exactly the same Chemo as you but 12 Taxol, all but I am having chemo first and then surgery for 2 nodes and one small tumour. I too had my 2nd EC treatment 10 days ago. Several different side effects this time around, but now feeling back to normal.
My hair is coming out even after using the Cooling Cap, but I haven't got to the shaving stage yet, although I know it will come sooner rather than later.
All the best

Thanks for the reply Sandrad. Good to know that there is another person out there experiencing similar side effects. I also used the cooling cap but sadly it didn't work for me but I did expect that it wouldn't as the breast nurse said as my hair is fine and not thick the chances of it working were small. Gave it a try anyway as there is always an outside chance.

That’s what I thought about my hair, although I was given slightly different advice. My hair is very thin too, but I was told this may work better, as the cool cap can get nearer to the scalp. I would say I probably still have 50% of my hair, and it is covered all over currently with no actual bald areas, just very thin.
xx
