I'm not new on here but sometimes fin it a bit difficult to navigate

I had mastectomy on Thursday and just feel so down. District nurse won't come out to empty drain ....  told m to get a taxi! I just feel they have no empathy or compassion sometimes.

Also have really upset tummy since Friday thought it was anaesthetic at first but now thinking it's a bug. I'm tired but not sleeping. I just want to feel something positive again.

Iv never once said why me, why any of us but I'm just fed up of always being the strong on dealing with daily crap

Xx.

  • Hi, I had mastectomy in Jan 2022. Bit of a shock to the system but now feeling more like my normal self. Had 11" long surgical wound with loads seroma and some bleeding following. Prosthesis fitting delayed due to seroma but is going down. Hospital drained (500ml...eek) it as they no longer do drains due to infection risk. If you had any morphine that can upset your tummy for a while. You will get there in the end xx

  •  Hi also had mastectomy on Monday afternoon, home early Tuesday morning. Fantastic care whilst in hospital but  felt very alone once home. Not quite as bad experience, District nurse did come out late Wednesday afternoon to check my drain. Visit very rushed, wasn’t in the house for more than 5 mins, no contact numbers left or asked how I was coping at a very emotional time.
Like you had some bad days and ok days. Very sore, swollen, bruised. Emotions all over the place. Hope you feeling better soon, stay strong. X

  • Thank you, just not a great day. So tired but not sleeping and have been like this for months. The bc nurses are excellent but I just havnt had any good experiences with district nurses right from the start. This is my 4th op in 9 months I don't think it's asking a lot for them to come to me. Just don't need the extra stress..

    1. There's very little care from the care services. I'm tired and emotional but it's like they havnt got time for you. Xx
  • So sorry you are having a bad time and district nurses are not visiting.  Maybe ask the breast care nurse to contact them xx
