Hi, hope everyone is doing ok. I had surgeey a week and a halfvago and just wanted to ask. Everything seems to be healong well and doing tye exercises but 9 days after i have started to get pain through my breast, this seems different to the apin immediately after surgery. Is this normal as had to resort back to codeine tonight?

Thanks in advance x

  • The nerves, as they heal, can sometimes do that, but the only way to know for sure that this is "good pain" rather than a sign of trouble is to contact your team tomorrow morning, tell them exactly what is happening, and see what they say.

As for the codein, I was able to stay off it for 2 days after coming home from hospital just recently, had to fall back on it for two days after that, then another 3 days off the pain meds, and then I was woken up the next morning by pain, so gave in and took them again. I am not a great fan of these things, and my body reacts as if I am slightly overdosing even when I only take one dose, but sometimes it's necessary.

  • I think it's very normal for pain and sensations to come and go in the weeks and months after surgery. Healing can take a long time and goes through many stages. After 9 days you're still at an early stage, your body is still getting used to what happened to it. So pain may happen as it starts to "sort itself out" and figure out how and where to heal.

Do phone your team as GreyCats suggests, if you're at all bothered by it. Hopefully it'll be a transient part of the process.

  • Thanks for replying, i will get it chwxked but was thinking might be normal. Hope tpu recober well too x
