Hi all
I’m new to the group. I was diagnosed with lobular breast cancer in January 2020. I had a single mastectomy, revision surgery, lymph node clearance, 18months of chemotherapy, radiotherapy. Now on Anastrazole and Zolodex injections. Im awaiting an Oophrectomy so I can stop the injections.
I have polyarticular arthritis, sarcoidosis, fibromyalgia and high blood pressure. I struggling with my mobility a lot.
I put on loads of weight after all my treatment and I have been struggling to loose it so I decided to go for the Latissimus Dorsi reconstruction as my breast surgeon said I didn’t have to get my bmi to below 30 like I would have to if I have the DIEP. She would like me to get to about 35 BMI.
Is there anyone who has had this reconstruction and if so can you tell me how you feel about it? How was the surgery and recovery, how is your mobility on that side after having it.
Thank you all so much.
Janine
Hi wozeywifey
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have breast cancer. While I haven’t had the breast reconstruction that you are having I noticed that you haven’t had any answers yet so I thought I would welcome you to the forum. Hopefully someone with the experience you are looking for will come along soon. If you want to you could contact the Macmillan helpline on 0808 808 00 00 and I’m sure they’d be able to help you.
Wishing you the best of luck with the reconstruction when you have it.
Best wishes
