Hi, yes not the best..... no plan yet, I'm hoping this what I get on 7th. I know it's contained and found early from mamagram.. I'm told by the nurse they can do a lumpectomy that's as much as I know. Scary time even though trying to be strong for my children who are all grown up.. hope you have a plan soon. X
Hi Annie59
Welcome to the group, but sorry you have needed to. We are all going through our cancer journey in one way or another and do our best to support one another. Feel free to ask any questions and I’m sure someone on here will try to help
I was diagnosed with DCIS in November 2021 and had. Lumpectomy 5 weeks ago, radiotherapy starts next week. Mine was found early through a mammogram too after I went to my GP because I had a drawing sensation in my nipple which was a change for me.
Have been healing well and keen to get on with the second stage of my treatment
you will hopefully feel less scared once you have your plan and know the way forward.
All the best with your treatment - you can do this ! xx
Hi Rose 15b, thankyou for your kind words, mine is Disc to, you waited a long time for your op, did you have any other treatment before hand.?
I've had biopsy to conform it all, so was hoping on thec7th it was to get a date for the actual op, not sure what to expect at the 1st appointment, I know I may need to have a marker put in ready for a op.
I lost my sister 18 month ago to a different cancer, I am happy if its lumpectomy or masectomy will take their advise.
How do you feel now?
Have you been able to work in-between? ( if you work of course)
Sorry for all the questions it's nice to speak with people going through the same.

Hi Annie59
i had a few biopsies, ultrasounds etc inbetween the diagnosis and surgery but nothing else.
you will probably be given a surgery date at that appointment - if not ask them directly for the date as you need to make arrangements at home/work.
I know how you feel with your sister. My mum died of breast cancer but only because she had secondary cancer I. Her bone before we even knew ( her generation were not breast aware back then unfortunately)
I feel fine now scar has healed well. Apart from an emotional day now and then when it hits me I have cancer I just get on with it as you do.
i worked up to my surgery. I had planned on going back to work between surgery and radiotherapy but to be honest it was sorer internally than I thought it would be (I have big boobs 36F) , and I also felt drained of energy. Hats off to those who has mastectomy’s. When I spoke to my consultant she recommended that I have the full 3 months off work to recover from the surgery and the radiotherapy. My GP signed me off and the consultant wrote me a letter for work.
sorry this is so long but wanted to give you a true insight. Best wishes for your treatment. I hope you get your surgery date st your next appointment x
Hi Rosie 15b,
Aww bless you, pleased its done for you now, yes I'm definitely going to ask, I was hoping to work lucky I can do it from home and they already have said I can always reduce hours if need to.
Sorry about your mum, yes my sister was secondary after the breast cancer 10 years she was good moved to Cyprus to live life she was unwell didn't think it had come back so bit late bones skin moved to brain.
Thankyou so much for being honest that's what we need. I think I'm prepared one day at a time.
Wish you a speedy recovery.

Hello Csp85,
Thankyou, wow that is very quick for you. Do you need treatment after as well, I've read all will need Radio therapy. It is very scary having a down day today, it's the emotions that are hard.
Bless you wish you well.
Do let us know how are doing.

Hi annie59
I am amazed myself how quickly things have happened, its looking like a lumpsectomy followed by radiotherapy,as it stands for now it's looking unlikely I will need chemo, have to wait for 10days after my lumpsectomy for my results to come in to 100% confirmed I won't need chemo.
