Hi
I had a single mastectomy on 18th Feb to remove a 9x6cm mixed DCIS & invasive cancer. I won't find out about any possible further treatment until I see my consultant later in March.
I am fairly pain free but still attached to my drain. My main concern at the moment is that I seem to have been left with a 'stump' - roll of skin/ tissue across the top of the removed side. I know it's a small price to part for being cancer free, if indeed I am, but it has been a massive shock. I was prepared for 'flat' but not a stump. I obviously didn't ask the right questions before my op. so didn't have a real idea of what to expect. I have phoned the breast nurse at the hospital but as she can't see me until mid-March, she was unable to offer any helpful reassurance. Does anyone have experience of this sort of scar?
Hi FeeBBee
welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have breast cancer. I don’t have experience of the scar you are asking about but as you haven’t had an answer I thought I’d welcome you to the forum. I do however have a small lump under my scar which is scar tissue from my lumpectomy last March. It’s probably just scar tissue but as you are concerned about it get it checked out just to set your mind at rest.
Wishing you all the best with whatever further treatment you have.
Best wishes
