Hi, I've just joined, I've found a lump on my chest at the top of my left breast. I've spoken to my GP and have an appointment next week. I'm thinking it can't be cancer as it doesn't seem to be in the right area? However I'm aware of secondarys after having stage 3 cervical cancer in 2005. Can anyone offer any words of wisdom?

Thank you

  • Hi Amanda32, really sorry you’re having this additional stress after what you’ve been through already, I don’t think you ever stop thinking the worst when you’ve been through what we have. There’s no right answer here, most breast cancers are found on the upper outer quadrant but the reality is it can appear anywhere. I had an occurrence literally behind my nipple in 2013, this time it was in the upper outer quadrant. You’ve done exactly the right thing on getting it checked out, I hope you mean your gp has referred you to the breast clinic next week? If he hasn’t, insist he does. All the best to you xx

I had a telephone appointment yesterday when he said he wanted to do an in person appointment but couldn't see me till next week! Hopefully I get some answers then. Just finding it difficult as I've told my husband but none of my 4 children and next week seems ages away! Thank you for replying x

  • Yup that sounds standard. I was really lucky as when I had BC in 2013 so when I got a second lump last year my gp says he was supposed to see me in person but given my history would just refer me straight away. Don’t let him tell you to watch and wait, absolutely insist on a referral. Yes best to tell the kids when you know what you’re dealing with xx

  • Hi Amanda32

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have found a lump in your breast and that it may be cancer. Hopefully it will  be nothing serious.

Best of luck with your appointment next week.

    Best wishes
