Hi. Due to Covid, are husbsnds/partners allowed to accompany to this appointment?
In my area they aren’t but. I have noticed that some people are starting to take in partners and at the least they’ve been allowed in the waiting room more. I had a friend sit in the waiting room at my last appointment, so unless you’ve had notification not specifically I’d take your partner and see how far you get. At the worst they can wait for you in the coffee shop but you never know, they may at least be able to wait with you. Lots of people are still attending alone though so I’m not sure of the guidance x
My husband has come to my Oncologist appointments. I'm in Kent. I certainly needed him at the first appointments I had as I was struggling to take it all in. Although the hospital letter said people couldn't come with me verbally staff advised not to come alone. Other appointments, for scans etc I have gone alone though.
In my area they are not allowed to attend however I was verbally informed he could attend the appointment when it was confirmed to be breast cancer and also my after radiation appointments otherwise l was alone. The only time I really felt it was the morning of my operation when my husband took me to the hospital and dropped me off. That moment was the first time I was worried about what was happening to me. The nursing staff were brilliant and coped with the tears.
So if you can take your husband please do so you don't have to feel that you are doing this on your own, even though your husband is there for you as well as your family.
All the best for the future.
Thanks all. He will come with me if they'll allow.
I'm in the Highlands, and my Oncologist, Dr Barrett is way down south, so all my appointments with her have and will be via 'NearMe'. Any hospital appointments I've had so far at the Breast Clinic, my hubby has accompanied me, no questions asked. For my appointment a few weeks ago at the Macmillan Suite at Raigmore for my infusion of Zoledronic Acid, he couldn't come past the reception for that, though was allowed to sit in the waiting room with me until it was time for me to go through; he then went across to Maggies for a coffee and relax until I was done, then came back and collected me.
When you're going through hell, don't stop!
