Hi all new to all this and still feeling very nervous i am going for my 2nd bout of chemo today.

I am on a 3 week cycle but ended up in hospital a week after my last one with nutropenic sepsis. As anyone else been through this it was a bit scary.

I have a fungating mass under my left axilla which as come from the breast.

Is anyone else on here had similar diagnosis.

Also can anyone tell there story of chemo experience.

I was doing great for the first week after but my experience in hospital as made me really nervous for this next session

Any support would be appreciated

  • Hello Chase, welcome. Not quite the same as you but after my third chemo session I ended up in hospital for 3 nights and they initially thought that I had neutropenic sepsis. It turned out to be nuetropenia - my white blood cell levels had dropped really low - but I was really ill and it did make me nervous of my next chemo session. However, I had another 5 chemo sessions after the hospital admission and all went fine, bar some standard side effects such as tiredness and feeling sick, and I was prescribed anti-sickness medication which helped with that. It's natural that you will be feeling nervous at your second chemo session today but hopefully it will all go well for you. I took my temperature several times a day when having chemo so that any potential fever was picked up quickly and if you feel unwell at any time  don't be afraid to give your chemo hotline a ring for advice. I find that taking things a day at a time, rather than thinking ahead about what may or may not happen, helps me to get through the various treatment stages as it is a bit of a long slog! Hope this helps x
