Hi I am new to the group.
I was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer on 2nd December. had a lumpectomy and lymphnode removed 24th Jan. I am die to have radiotherapy and have been given tablets for the next 5 years. I am still off work. They asked how I am feeling. I am am shattered all the time and can't explain to them how I feel. I am still sore. I just ant explain to anyone how I feel and I know there are alot more worse than me.
Hi Denty
I had DCIS surgery on 17th January and am waiting for radiotherapy too. I still feel extremely tired all the time and puzzled as I thought I would feel this fatigue after the radiotherapy as warned, not before. The mind wants to do things but the body says hold on a minute your not ready, is this how your feeling ?. I haven’t been back to work either and my consultant said I should expect to be off for three months to recover for both surgery and radiotherapy. I was quite shocked but am going to do as I’m told (for a change) instead of soldiering on and putting myself backwards
As you say, there are people worse off and my heart goes out to everyone going through their journey. A nurse said to me “everyone’s cancer is different, this is yours, and it will take as long as it takes for you to recover”. I hope this helps you to think about it logically like it did me
Best wishes x
