Hi everyone,

So, I felt something on 8th Dec (day before my birthday - Happy Birthday!) - was seen straightaway by nurse who referred me for mammogram.  Had that on 22nd Dec (Merry Christmas!) with biopsy of the "lump" - kinda got a vibe that it might be dodgy....you know don't you.... and, yes, that clicking is just horrific.  Seems never ending.

Called to see consultant on 5th Jan (Happy New Year!).  Told me the lump is cancerous and hormone receptive.  Straightaway came off HRT and onto Letrozole.

Saw consultant again and I had another ultrasound and biopsy on the other breast as there was "something" they wanted to check.  Luckily that came back negative so....

Lumpectomy and sentinal lymph node biopsy on 20th Jan.  Saw consultant last Wednesday and lymph nodes clear (thank goodness) but he wants to go in again to take more tissue just to ensure a safe margin....so I'm back in tomorrow for another op.  Hopefully, he'll take all he needs.

I'm not very "big" (34A) so it will make a shape difference but, to be honest, I really don't care - just get it done and out of me please!

Radiotherapy will happen at a later date.

It's all such a blur...but one thing I do know, MacMillan nurses rock!

Love to you all xx

  • Best of luck with tomorrow's surgery, hopefully you get clear margins this time and your recovery is quick x

  • Merry Christmas and Happy New Year indeed; I hope that apart from the hormone-related treatment you are done with everything by Easter! Slight smile

I am very pleased they dealt with it quickly, but it does not leave time to digest properly everything that happens. I agree with you, Macmillan nurses are great!
