Hi, just been diagnosed with ER positive cancer which has been caught early. Waiting for a date for the lumpectomy and removal of sentinal nodes. I feel positive but do worry about it coming back.

Hello Tetley.
My cancer is ER+ too. I'm going down a slightly different pathway in that I've just undergone a mastectomy and full node clearance as I had many tumours and will starting chemo at some point.
We've taken a very pragmatic positive approach but I know it's always going to be in the back of my mind now.
You may find that post surgery that your plan changes slightly based on results and that is totally normal.
Hi, it's hard to say, for some people yes, for others they need more treatment - chemo, radiotherapy, hormone blockers. As you're ER positive (I am too) then I guess you'll be offered tablets to reduce the amount of oestrogen in your body. I am taking Letrozole for this. And I've been prescribed them daily for 10 years. What I have learnt during my experience is there are many different combinations of issues with breast cancers and the treatment is very personalised.
I’m the same, had lumpectomy and consultant phoned me to say I don’t need any more treatment although they had originally said I would need radiotherapy? Worried that there will be no support treatment against the possibility of reoccurrence. I have follow up on Monday so hopefully will get the answers I need
Thanks for replying, i hope everything goes well for you. I know they have caught mine very early but i thought with this type of cancer no chemo was required this is what they saod to me i thought, im probably not understanding correctly. They said if HER positive then would need chemo, its all very mind consuming
Good luck with your chemo x
Thanks they have mentioned radiotherapy and tablets too. Also follow up appt to check whether further surgery required. Time will tell, i hope all goes well with you x
