  • Hi

i was diagnosed in November too. Had lumpectomy on 17th Jan and am waiting for my follow up next week. Wound has been sorer than I thought it would be and taking longer to heal, but my consultant has just called me ahead of my follow up to tell me I don’t need any more treatment ! Great news but now confused as I was originally told I would need radiotherapy after. Glad not to have it but concerned as well as I thought you always had to have it to eradicate any cancer cells that might also have been in the breast. Don’t know if anyone else has had this turnaround I would be interested to hear ?  Gathering my questions to ask the consultant next week

Wishing everyone on this chat good luck with their treatment we are all in this together x

  • Hi Ladean

I had a lump removed from my breast as well has two lymph nodes removed last March.  I had radiotherapy and 8 more cycles of chemo in tablet form as there was a small bit of Cancer left in on of my lymph nodes.  I finished treatment last October and I am doing well.

Good luck with whatever treatment is next for you.

    Best wishes

  • Hi I had my op in September and had already been told that I would need radiotherapy which followed in December. I have two scars, one where they removed the cancer from under the nipple the second one is on the edge of the arm pit where they removed 2 lympth nodes, both clear. Both scars have healed well.

I had 5 sessions of radiotherapy, which I believe is the norm now, but you still get the same amount of radiotherapy as if you had 15.

Since I've had my radiotherapy I have found things out that I wished I known before eg I was informed I would have to hold my breath as cancer on left side, this is to help with moving heart and lungs out of the way, when I went for my first radiotherapy session I was told I was to breath normally, no one able to say why. Was asked recently what area they used the radiotherapy on, again no one had said. Also found out I still have two pieces of metal, extremely small piece so they can line up where the radiotherapy is needed, again no one said until first session.

If you are going to have radiotherapy I would suggest you start moisturising as soon as you possibly can. I used E45 which was recommended by my breast cancer nurse.

Hope this helps you with questions to ask and everything goes well for you.

  • Hi, I had a lumpectomy and lymph nodes removed in December. I am waiting to find out if I just need radiotherapy or also chemotherapy. Got to also take hormone treatment. I am just grateful for moving forward with my journey

Hi ladies what do you all think of partner saying hes fed up with hearing about my treatment. Very upsetting at a time like this.

  • Had WLE/Lumpectomy plus Sentinel Lymph nodes removed 20th Jan. Get my results tomorrow. Will let you know. As we know it's HER2 positive I'm already on Anastrazole, plus having 2 iron infusions. 2nd one tomorrow too. Been told will be having chemo and Herceptin and Grade 2. Will know more tomorrow

  • I too, am grateful for the prompt action and praying they've got it all and not in lymph nodes. Not sure how much sleep I'll get tonight!! Rofl
