Hello all, my name is Rina I am a 3 times cancer survivor..... most recent was at the start of the pandemic which was really scary as my post surgery appointments were postponed.

This last time resulted in having a mastectomy which after being a hermit for 2yrs and dressing down, I am now having great difficulty in finding the right clothes to wear/bra as my original wardrobe is not suitable anymore. I tend to slouch to hide as even my breast filler moves around and I am so conscious all the time.

I'm hoping by coming on here readers may be able to share their experiences and give me some advice on how to make the best of my unbalanced shape now.

    Hi  Rina,

I've just recently had a mastectomy and know how you are feeling with regard to your wardrobe. Most of mine doesn't fit and those post surgery bras just depress me. I'm wondering whether it will look better once I get the silicone prosthesis over the softie one.

Baggy clothes and scarves might be the way forward. I've seen a couple of tutorials about how to wear scarves to disguise lopsidedness.

    Xx

  • Hi yes I have the silicone prosthesis but I find it heavy and it slips around all the time, I've bought the bras from the breast clinic they are pretty and feminine but the prosthesis doesn't remain in one place. Hope you get on better when you get yours.

Hi. I have the bra and a softie from the hospital but haven’t worn it yet as it’s less than a week since the surgery.  I can’t even look yet.  But do they not have a pocket for the prosthesis to fit into?

Yes they do. Almost 2 weeks from surgery and I've brave a sports top twice. I tried the bras and they hurt where the drain and wound was so perhaps to early.

  • Yes hun they do, took me months as I was very tender and I hated looking at myself. I find the prosthesis too heavy and it moves about in the pocket. I'm now wondering if their is a skin adhesive I can use to hold it in place.  It is very early days for you take your time x
